Workshop for those who need rest and their allies – at Storeteigen
This is a workshop for those who need rest.
For those whose existence is questioned, debated, dismissed or ignored.
This workshop is for those who have been othered, for those who are not accepted as they are, for those who dont feel safe in this society.
This workshop is for everyone who sees themselves in these words and especially but not limited to people of colour, immigrants, women, queers, single parents, carers, non binary, trans, those with othered physical, mental or emotional abilities and those who support them.
For those who do not find rest in this society.
Hvileåret is an 18 month project held at Storeteigen by artist, Amber Ablett. The project will explore what we can learn about the role of rest as a tool for growth by looking to traditional farming techniques. The project brings together acitivists, allies and the wider public to think together about rest as an active state.
In this workshop, participants will be invited to bring with them items to compost and the workshop will begin with a discussion around rest, growth and activism. We will think about the times that we need rest; making a list that could be given to friends or loved ones so they know when we need support.
Hvileåret is project curated by Kunsthuset Kabuso and is kindly supported by Norsk kulturråd
