Hardanger Fiddle Meets Kantele

Welcome to a concert at Hardanger Folk Museum on Thursday, November 28th, at 7:30 PM. Experience the talents of two remarkable musicians, Sinikka Langeland and Erlend Apneseth; she is a master of the kantele, the national instrument of Finland, and he of our own national instrument, the Hardanger fiddle. Both are musicians and composers who blend folk music, jazz, and contemporary music. Sinikka Langeland is well-known for her interpretations of ancient rune songs and folk music from Finnskogen, as well as her musical settings of Jon Fosse’s texts. Erlend Apneseth ’s roots lie in the folk music tradition of Jølster and the western coast of Norway. Open to new expressions and collaborations, they find great joy in challenging each other and exploring the harmonies between the kantele and Hardanger fiddle.

Everyone is warmly welcome!

This concert is part of the Førde Festival’s VestaFolk project, with support from Vestland County Council and Sparebankstiftinga Sogn og Fjordane. Concerts at Hardanger Folk Museum are arranged in collaboration with Hardanger Folk Music Collection and supported by the Norwegian Arts Council.
