Try “kroting”
Kroting is a traditional decorative painting technique used on the walls of old, wooden living houses. Using crushed chalk and water, beautiful geometric patterns are created.
On several Tuesdays in July, our building conservation expert, Anne Lise Brask Eriksen, will be at the open air museum working on kroting. The patterns she creates on the walls of Tveismestova are reconstructed from various traditional designs found in wooden living houses across Hardanger. Come along – watch, learn, and try it yourself!
Time: Tuesdays from 10 AM to 2 PM
Dates: July 1st–22nd, 2025
On these days, the museum’s craftsmen will also be present in the outdoor museum, working on various restoration projects.
