– a work of art between the buildings in the cluster

The Diktarstien poets’ path winds like a work of art between the buildings in the museum cluster. Poems, line of poems and quotes from many of our most beloved poets are engraved on the path stones.

Every year, Hardanger Folk Museum and the Olav H. Hauge Centre organise ‘Diktardagen’ (poets day), where a new stone is laid by the poet him/herself.

The first stone was laid in 1992. However, poets day was officially established in connection with Olav H. Hauge’s 85th birthday in 1993. This giant of a poet from Ulvik was one of the masterminds of the ‘Diktarstien’ initiative. The following are represented:

  • Tone Hødnebø (2019)
  • Einar Økland (2018)
  • Øyvind Rimbreid (2017)
