Learn Hardanger in Hardanger!<\/h1>\n

26 \u2013 28 September 2025 you can attend courses in Hardanger embroidery at Hardanger Folk Museum in Utne, Norway, and let our teacher show you the secrets and techniques of the handiwork, in the heart of the area where it once emerged. You will see our exhibition of Hardanger embroidery, the largest collection in Norway. From the 17th century onward women in the Hardangerfjord in Norway have sewn Hardanger embroidery as a part of the local costume traditions. Since then, the interest for this unique handiwork has spread to most parts of the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

You are welcome to a three day course, with guided tours in exhibits and collections, lectures and individual teaching at your level. The courses are suitable for both beginners and more experienced stitchers. Overnight stay and full pension at Utne hotel as an option.<\/p>\n

Dates<\/h2>\n

September 26 \u2013 28 2025, Friday to Sunday. Registration within September 1 at post@hvm.museum.no<\/a><\/p>\n

Tailor made courses are available for groups and individuals all year on request.
\nIf less than 4 registrations, the course might be cancelled.<\/p>\n

Since the course sometimes have both English and Norwegian speaking participants, I often offer my English speaking stitchers to have a private guided tour at Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

Prices<\/h2>\n

Course, incl. lunch and coffee-breaks, without dinner and overnight stay 4,900 NOK
\nPrices include 3 days course, lunch and coffee-breaks at the museum and course expenses<\/p>\n

The cost for sewing material comes in addition, so the price depends on what course attendants choose to sew.<\/p>\n

Accommodation<\/h2>\n

The museum has a discount agreement with Utne Hotel, located right next to the museum. Participants in the courses receive discount on accommodation at the hotels art annex. For booking, please contact the hotel directly at reception@utnehotel.no<\/a> and mention that you are attending a course. See also utnehotel.no<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It is also possible to find accommodation through services like Airbnb.<\/p>\n
